In conjunction with Tribeca Festival, Torn Page will host a special after-show gathering featuring Carl Raymond, creator of the hit history podcast The Gilded Gentleman, in dialogue with members of the creative team behind A Simple Herstory: Offstage @ Torn Page: A Simple Herstory & The Gilded Gentleman.
A Simple Herstory, the acclaimed podcast and genre-blurring performance project created by Jocelyn Kuritsky and written and developed by Jonathan A. Goldberg, explores the women who have run for President of the United States. The work will be presented for one afternoon only as a live radio play.
The project's core collaborators include Jocelyn Kuritsky , Jonathan A. Goldberg, Jenny Turner Hall, Donya K. Washington, and Meghan Finn .
The event is presented within the curated event landscape of the Tribeca Festival. Founded in 2002, Tribeca Festival is a major New York cultural event celebrating storytelling across film, audio, television, immersive media, games, and live performance, and this year marks its 25th anniversary.
Following the performance, audiences are invited to an after-show gathering at Torn Page, the former home of legendary actors Rip Torn and Geraldine Page . Now a performance space and archive dedicated to their artistic legacy, Torn Page is overseen by their son, Tony Torn , a longtime figure in downtown New York theater. The venue hosts the event in a space that reflects its ongoing commitment to intimate, multidisciplinary artistic exchange, aligning with Tribeca Festival's broader celebration of storytelling across mediums.
The after-show gathering will feature a conversation with Carl Raymond in dialogue with Jocelyn Kuritsky , Cecil Baldwin , and Donya K. Washington, offering audiences a deeper look into A Simple Herstory and its blend of performance, historical inquiry, and narrative storytelling.
The performance of A Simple Herstory will take place on Sunday, June 7 at 3:00 PM at The Tank. The after-show gathering will take place after the performance with doors opening at 6pm and the program begining at 6:30pm at Torn Page. Tickets are available via Eventbrite and are donation based.
