Bonobo Enlists Arooj Aftab, Nilüfer Yanya for New Album Distance in Static

Simon Green has returned to the studio for new Bonobo album Distance in Static , the DJ/producer’s follow-up to 2022’s Fragments . Out September 11 via Ninja Tune , the record features vocal turns from Arooj Aftab, Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Hundred Waters’ Nicole Miglis, and more. Leading the LP is “Me and You,” a staple of his recent club sets. Green will also unveil a new live show at a string of North American dates kicking off in November; check out that song and the tour itinerary below.

Of the album title, Green said in a press release, “I think the front end of what I’ve done has now become something that’s referential to younger people. I liked the idea of listening for a distant signal—trying to find something in the noise.”

Since Fragments , Bonobo has released a soundtrack in tandem with Kamasi Washington and Floating Points for the anime show Lazarus .
