13 New Songs by Arab Strap, Dawn Richard / Durand Bernarr, and More Out Today
This week's new music rundown features releases from Arab Strap, Ebbb, Jah Wobble, Dawn Richard / Durand Bernarr, Sweeping Promises, Sir Richard Bishop, and several other artists.

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out . We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
EBBB – “SIDE ON”
If you like Nia Archives and need more drum-and-bass powered pop in your life, check out London trio Ebbb who will release their debut album Shallow Hits on July 10 via Ninja Tune. “Shallow Hits” is the infectious new single.

JAH WOBBLE, TIAN QIYI – “TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS” (BEATLES COVER)
Post-punk bass icon Jah Wobble has teamed up with his sons John T and Charlie – who perform as Tian Qiyi – for a “reimagining” of The Beatles’ psychedelic period on Mystic Liverpool which is out August 14 via Cherry Red. Check out their take on “Tomorrow Never Knows.”

SWEEPING PROMISES – “COCOON”
Sweeping Promises say: We wrote ‘Cocoon’ years ago to extend our live set back when we only knew the ten songs from our first album. It has become a staple of our live set over the years and has undergone several metamorphoses in our home studio, as we wanted to develop this track in a disarming and dead-simple way for the ‘live sound’ mentality of YSIR. The music video intercuts homegrown live footage of the band playing shows in the Kansas community with the sculptural and psychogeographic idea of the cocoon, which entices and finally envelops our singer, Lira Mondal.” New album You Say I Romanticize is out August 14 via Sub Pop.

DAWN RICHARD FT DURAND BERNARR – “BABY, CAN WE?”
After a couple amazing ethereal albums with Spencer Zahn, Dawn Richard is back in R&B mode and just released this new single featuring Durand Bernarr (Erykah Badu, Anderson .Paak). “Durand is one of the most gifted vocalists and performers of our generation,” says Richard. “I’ve admired his artistry for years. This record gave us the opportunity to create something together that feels joyful, honest, and rooted in genuine connection. At its heart, ‘baby, can we?’ is about being open enough to embrace possibility.” This is out now via Merge.

ARAB STRAP – “FIGHTING FOR YOU”
Scottish duo Arab Strap have shared a second single from their upcoming album Half Told Tales . “It’s about certain political figures and very wealthy demagogues that I don’t trust to look after anyone’s interests but their own,” Aidan Moffat says. “I grew up in the ’80s, and sometimes I feel like I’m living my youth again: the same myths of a once glorious nation prevail, and the threat of global war seems constant; economic inequality and class divisions just seem to get worse and worse, and the same old bigotries are being encouraged in very dangerous ways. I try to keep positive by telling myself I’ve seen this kind of thing before and it will pass. And, of course, venting my frustrations in a big, noisy banger.”
