Production photos have been released for Alexander Zeldin’s new play CARE. A life affirming play about the elusive connection between loss and rebirth, it is currently in previews at the Young Vic Theatre with opening night on 19 May. It runs until 11 July as the final Main House show of Nadia Fall’s inaugural season as Artistic Director. Check out the photos below!

The production stars Linda Bassett (Call the Midwife, East is East), Hayley Carmichael (The Importance of Being Earnest, Rhinoceros, Richard III), Rosie Cavaliero (Bookish, The Power of Parker), Richard Durden (Bridgerton, Ghosts, HBO Harry Potter), Aoife Gaston (Doctor Who, The Tempest), Llewella Gideon (Mr Loverman, Faith, Hope and Charity), Ann Mitchell (Tantulus, Widows), Taru Devani (EastEnders, The Long Goodbye), Diana Payan (Paddington in Peru, Doctors), Winston Sookhan, William Lawlor (Arcadia, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The Grapes of Wrath), Ethan Mahony and Charlie Webb.

A single mum, two feuding pre-teens, and their gran. When Grandmother takes a fall, she is hastily moved to a care home she doesn’t want to be in, surrounded by other elderly people longing for comfort and missing home. But as time passes, she comes to see what really matters in life and between loss and loneliness, we glimpse the unexpected joy in life’s everyday moments.

Following the Inequalities trilogy, Alexander Zeldin (LOVE, The Confessions, The Other Place) makes his Young Vic debut and eagerly anticipated return to London.

CARE is written and directed by Alexander Zeldin. The Creative Team brings together Set Designer Rosanna Vize, Costume Designer Natasha Jenkins, Lighting Designer James Farncombe, Sound Designer Josh Anio Grigg, Movement Director Marcin Rudy, Casting Director Jacob Sparrow, Intimacy Director Katharine Hardman for EK Intimacy, Fight Director Sam Lyon-Behan, Voice Coach Carol Fairlamb, Dramatherapist Patricia Ojehonmon, Costume Supervisor Caroline McCall, Props Supervisor Laura Flowers and Associate Director Kaleya Baxe.

CARE is co-produced with A Zeldin Company, and is translated and adapted from Zeldin's play Une Mort dans la Famille, which premiered in Paris at Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe in 2022.

CARE is the final Main House production in Nadia Fall’s inaugural season which will conclude with the world premiere of Sting by Sophie Swithinbank directed by Nancy Medina in the Maria Studio (18 Jun – 18 Jul).

BalletBoyz announced the world premiere of SIX LETHARGIES at Sadler's Wells Theatre, featuring 30 dancers and a live 37-piece orchestra exploring mental health and trauma through Keaton Henson's composition.

Sam Harrison will star in JEEVES TAKES CHARGE, the Olivier Award-winning one-man P.G. Wodehouse adaptation, for a limited run at Charing Cross Theatre, before touring the UK.

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR announced a 12-week extension at Theatre Royal Drury Lane following its London Palladium run, with Sam Ryder continuing as Jesus. Sam Ryder's recording of 'Gethsemane' will also be released as a single.

Charlie Brooks and Joe McFadden will play Chris' parents in a new UK tour of THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, opening at Birmingham Rep before touring nationally.
