Ariana Grande Drops New Single “Hate That I Made You Love Me” From Eighth Album
Ariana Grande’s new single, “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” is the first look at her upcoming eighth album. Co-written and produced by Grande, ILYA, and Max Martin, the track is poised to be a hit.

Today, we get the first glimpse of Ariana Grande's forthcoming eighth album petal with the lead single "Hate That I Made You Love Me." It was co-written and produced by Ariana Grande, ILYA, and Max Martin. And, ya know what? It sounds like a hit!
"Hate That I Made You Love Me" has an uncanniness to it. It opens with some gangly, bubbly production that makes way for Grande to enter in her lower register. There's something eerie and uncomfortable simmering beneath the charming melody, one that recalls the 1985 hit " Cheri Cheri Lady " by Modern Talking. "Warm, kissed by the sun, then cold like the wind/ A bee stuck in honey," goes one line. It's tantalizing.
In an Instagram story, Grande shared that she's been working hard putting together the live show for petal . She also called the new single "one of my favorite songs i'll ever give to you." She wrote:
have been rehearsing & getting our show ready for you, spending every minute of every day creating and working with the greatest, kindest, most talented group of human beings, while counting down the hours to the release of one of my favorite songs i'll ever give to you… the greatest fans in the entire world and i am simply feeeeeeeeling it my goodness my heart i'm so grateful for all of the art, moments, songs we have shared… i can't wait for more always and for you to meet petal tonight. i will be in a run through when it drops but i cannot wait to celebrate with you all at the show next week! i simply cannot believe it … thank you for your love and for allowing this all to be here's to the next chapter & petal era… i love you sm… i love you with all my heart
The official video for "Hate That I Made You Love Me," directed by Christian Breslauer, is coming on Monday, June 1, and it seems very likely that it will star scream king Justin Long. Listen to the song below.
