Bad Bunny’s 2026 Met Gala Look: Behind the Concept

Bad Bunny once again turned heads at the 2026 Met Gala on Monday (May 4) in New York City when he arrived as an aged version of himself.

Gray-haired, wrinkled and walking with a cane, the Puerto Rican artist honored this year’s gala theme of “ Costume Art ” by responding to the Costume Institute exhibition theme “The Aging Body,” curated by Andrew Bolton.

“It’s getting a part of my life, trying to do something different,” the global sensation said to Vogue ‘s livestream host La La Anthony on the green carpet. “This day of the Met is a perfect day to explore and be creative and express yourself in a different way.”

Beyond a costume, the “Baile Inolvidable” singer had a concept that confronted time and identity, according to his own standards, and that took him “53 years exactly” (as he joked with La La) to execute. “It took a little bit, but it’s worth it. I hope I look good,” he said.

For his Met look, Benito recruited the celebrated prosthetic makeup artist Mike Marino and wore a custom-made all-black tuxedo suit that he designed, and was executed in collaboration with Zara. He also rocked an oversized bow that’s in reference to Charles James 1947 “Bustle,” a piece held in the Costume Institute’s collection, as well as a 1995 Cartier watch.

Bunny’s statement-making look comes on the heels of his very own “DtMF” breaking the record on the Hot Latin Songs chart, spending 57 weeks at No. 1. The artist set a new record for the longest command in the chart’s nearly 40-year history, surpassing the 56-week reign of Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber.

Additionally, he will resume his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour with the European leg kicking off May 22 in Barcelona, and wrapping July 22 in Brussels, Belgium.
