BEETLEJUICE THE MUSICAL features music and lyrics by Australia’s own Eddie Perfect which earned him a Tony Award nomination.

Speaking about the Adelaide season, Eddie Perfect said: “Beetlejuice is one of those shows that’s equal parts wild fun and unexpected heart, and I’m thrilled to bring it to Adelaide. I’ve always had a special connection to this city, it feels familiar and creatively fearless. Adelaide audiences have a deep appreciation for comedy, and a seasoned taste for quality musical theatre, so I can’t wait to share this wonderfully outrageous musical with you.”

Reprising his role as Beetlejuice, Broadway star Andy Karl said: “Beetlejuice is one of the funniest, wildest shows I’ve ever had the joy of performing. I’ve heard so many great things about the incredible arts and festival scene in Adelaide, and now it’s time to stir up a little mischief together. I can’t wait to bring the chaos and comedy of Beetlejuice your way”

BEETLEJUICE THE MUSICAL tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager obsessed with the whole “being dead thing.” Lucky for Lydia, her new house is haunted by a recently deceased couple and a degenerate demon with a thing for stripes. When Lydia calls on this ghost-with-the-most to scare away her insufferable parents, Beetlejuice comes up with the perfect plan, which involves exorcism, an adorable girl scout who gets scared out of her wits and a whole (nether)world of pandemonium.

BEETLEJUICE THE MUSICAL is directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Alex Timbers (Moulin Rouge!, original Broadway production of Peter and the Starcatcher), with an original score by Tony Award-nominee Eddie Perfect (King Kong), a book by Scott Brown & Emmy Award nominee Anthony King (Broad City), choreography by Connor Gallagher (The Robber Bridegroom), and music supervision, orchestrations and incidental music by Kris Kukul (Joan of Arc: Into the Fire).

BEETLEJUICE THE MUSICAL will play the Festival Theatre, Adelaide Festival Centre from October 10 with tickets on sale on May 7 at the Beetlejuice The Musical website.
