The 4th annual Bloomingdale Jazz Fest kicks off on Friday, June 5 at 5:30pm. The BSM Jazz Fest will feature performances from the BSM Youth Jazz Ensemble, MAP Jazz Combo, Vocal Jazz Ensemble and the Adult Jazz Ensemble. Bloomingdale School of Music jazz ensembles are directed by Daniel Bennett, Michael Cochrane , Brandon Vazquez, Lauren Lee, and Eli Asher.

The festival will feature music of Charlie Parker , Miles Davis , Cole Porter , Jerome Kern and more. Bloomingdale School of Music jazz students have consistently earned top ratings in the NYSSMA Jazz competition, Interlochen Jazz, and Essentially Ellington competition. The Bloomingdale School of Music was founded in 1964 as a cultural hub for high quality music education. "BSM is a wonderful place to learn Jazz! The jazz fest is our way of giving back to the upper west side community," said saxophonist Daniel Bennett, Director of Jazz studies at BSM. The UK Jazz Journal called Daniel Bennett "an outspoken voice of hope" during the COVID-19 pandemic. Bennett's advocacy for music education has guided his vision for the BSM Jazz Fest. Bloomingdale serves over 800 students every week at their historic brownstone. The school was recently renovated on syndicated 'George to the Rescue' (NBC TV).
