BMG has acquired publishing interests in the catalog of multi-Platinum Australian rock band Jet .

The deal expands on BMG ‘s existing publishing relationship with the band and follows the company’s acquisition of Jet’s recordings catalog in 2023 .

The transaction covers the publishing interests of three of the four original Jet members: Nic Cester , Cam Muncey, and Mark Wilson .

Nic Cester , co-founder and frontman of the band, said: “We’ve loved working with BMG and we’re excited to extend that partnership to the publishing side, so these songs can keep finding new audiences in the years ahead.”

> “Jet’s enduring success is illustrated on stage at festivals and headline shows around the world, on radio, across streaming, and through a global sync track record of the rarest order.” Heath Johns , BMG

Heath Johns , President, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia, BMG , said: “There are few Australian bands with songs as internationally recognizable as Jet.

“BMG is honored that Jet has placed their faith in us to help ensure these songs continue to find new audiences for many years to come.”

Formed in Melbourne in the late 1990s , Jet released three studio albums and have sold more than 6.5 million records worldwide, according to BMG .

Singles from the album topped the US Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts, while Are You Gonna Be My Girl and Rollover DJ were voted No. 1 and No. 19 respectively in the 2003 triple j Hottest 100.

Are You Gonna Be My Girl featured in a 2004 Apple iPod advertisement, and Jet ‘s music has since been used in advertising campaigns, feature films, television series and video game franchises over the past two decades.

The publishing acquisition is the latest catalog deal from BMG , which spent EUR €358 million ( $405m ) on music rights acquisitions in 2025 alone – the company’s largest annual catalog investment on record .

Since the launch of parent company Bertelsmann ‘s Boost investment program in 2021 , BMG says it has invested more than $1.5 billion in music rights.

Last month, BMG and Concord confirmed their merger. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2026 . Music Business Worldwide
