Since 2013, every new Call Of Duty game has launched on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One but that’s set to change this year.
Over the weekend, Call Of Duty leaker @HeyImAlaix took to social media and claimed they’d heard reports the newest game was being “playtested” for PlayStation 4. A few hours later though, the official Call Of Duty account debunked the rumour . “Not sure where this one started, but it’s not true. The next Call Of Duty is not being developed for PS4.”

Last month, Microsoft confirmed new Call Of Duty games wouldn’t be available via Xbox Game Pass for a year as part of cost-cutting measures. The cost of the Ultimate tier subscription has also been slashed following last year’s controversial price hike . “Our players cover a wide breadth of geographies, preferences, and tastes, so while there isn’t a single model that’s best for everyone, this change responds to a lot of feedback we’ve gotten so far. We’ll continue to listen and learn,” Microsoft explained in a blog post.
The 2026 edition of Call Of Duty hasn’t been confirmed by Microsoft but it’s expected to be a sequel to 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 .
Meanwhile it’s rumoured that both the new Xbox (codename Project Helix ) and the PlayStation 6 will launch in 2027 though ongoing memory chip shortages may delay that .
In other news, the boss of Grand Theft Auto 6 publishers Take-Two Interactive has said the upcoming game won’t have any product placement or brand collabs .
