Carla Morrison Joins 5020 Records in Frontline Artist Deal

Carla Morrison has signed a frontline artist deal with 5020 Records, Billboard can exclusively announce Thursday (June 25). The new agreement expands a relationship that began last year, when the Sony Music label signed the three-time Latin Grammy winner for her catalog .

“After more than 15 years of walking my own independent path, I’m incredibly excited to begin this new chapter with 5020,” Morrison said in a statement. “It was very important for me to find a team that truly understood my story, my music, and the deeply personal place from which my songs are born.”

She added, “I’m excited for everything that lies ahead and for the opportunity to continue connecting with more people through music. With the entire 5020 team, I’m confident we’ll achieve many meaningful things with the care, intention and authenticity that matter so much to me.”

The deal marks a new era for Morrison, who built one of Latin music’s most respected independent careers before expanding her relationship with Sony. Originally from Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, the singer-songwriter, known for her vulnerable lyrics and alternative pop sensibility, reached the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in 2023 through her appearance on Karol G’s “Mañana Será Bonito.”

Earlier in her career, Morrison’s albums Déjenme Llorar (2012) and Amor Supremo (2015) also made their mark on the Billboard charts; the former reached No. 12 on Top Latin Pop Albums , and the latter crowned that chart while reaching No. 4 on Top Latin Albums . Her latest album, El Renacimiento , earned two nominations at the 2022 Latin Grammys, including best pop vocal album and song of the year for “Encontrarme.”

“Carla is an artist with a unique voice and extraordinary sensitivity who has defined a generation,” 5020 Records co-president Rafa Arcaute said in a statement. “We are thrilled to continue building this relationship and to support her in this new chapter as a frontline artist on the label.”

Founded in 2022, 5020 Records is home to artists including Residente , Beéle , CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso , Christina Aguilera , Kany García , Nathy Peluso and Kenia Os .
