Celebrity Knicks Fans From the Music World

The New York Knicks have made their way into the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, and the iconic team has a long history of celebrity fans cheering them on.

As a whole, the Knicks have been in the playoffs 47 times, but they haven’t won the NBA championship since 1973. Regardless, music stars from Bad Bunny, 50 Cent and LL Cool J to Cardi B, Fat Joe and Alicia Keys have cheered on the Empire State’s basketball team courtside over the years, no matter the record.

Perhaps one of the most famous Knicks fans is filmmaker Spike Lee, who throughout the years became known for having a sideline rivalry with basketball player Reggie Miller whenever the team would play against the Indiana Pacers throughout the 1990s. “I would come to his funeral dressed in all orange and blue sky as he would like,” Miller said on The Dan Patrick Show in 2023, calling Lee the “face” of the Knicks. “I would be in Knicks’ colors at his wake. Just like he’d better be in blue and gold at mine.” To this day, the lifelong superfan can be seen courtside at games dressed in head-to-toe Knicks attire.

Recently, Fat Joe discussed his love for the team and sitting courtside, and how it went sideways for the game in which the Knicks clinched the finals berth. Though he claimed he had front-and-center tickets to watch the Knicks take on the Cavaliers in Cleveland at the May 25 Eastern Conference Finals game, Joe alleged the team denied courtside spots for Knicks fans; New York fans were eventually moved to the second and third rows. Explained the self-described superfan on ESPN: “We had bought some courtside seats to the game and then, once they found out it was superfan Fat Joe, they was like, ‘I can’t sit courtside. New York Knicks fans can’t sit courtside.’”
