Appropriately timed to coincide with Youth Day, 365 dancers gathered at Artscape for Centre Stage, a fundraising celebratory fundraiser organised by Sannette van der Mescht in aid of Cape Town City Ballet, South Africa's premier ballet company founded in 1934. Supported by more than 20 dance training organisations and tertiary programmes across the Western Cape, the event raised funds for the company's productions and various initiatives.

With retired Cape Town City Ballet principal dancer Laura Bosenberg as ambassador, Centre Stage featured 365 dancers-in-training and full-time students aged 5 to 25 in 20 choreographed works spanning classical ballet, jazz, musical theatre and African contemporary dance.

Guest performers Hannah Ward and Zac Healey (pictured centre) appeared in an excerpt from CTCB's acclaimed Orpheus in the Underworld, which concluded its season this past weekend. Cape Town City Ballet will next perform excerpts from Swan Lake Act ll and Raymonda at the Adam Small Theatre in Stellenbosch on 31 July and 1 August 2026 (three shows only) with tickets from R225 through Webtickets and Pick 'n Pay outlets.
