The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center has announced that co-artistic directors David Finckel and Wu Han will continue in their roles through 2032. The pair have served as artistic directors since the 2004–2005 season.

The announcement was made during a sold-out concert at Alice Tully Hall. During their tenure, Finckel and Wu Han have overseen the expansion of CMS programming, touring activity, digital initiatives, commissioning efforts, and educational programs. According to the organization, CMS now presents more than 80 events each season and has exceeded its pre-pandemic attendance levels at Lincoln Center.

Since 2004, CMS has commissioned or co-commissioned 78 new works and expanded its national and international touring presence, with recurring residencies and partnerships in cities including Chicago, Palm Beach, Grand Rapids, Saratoga Springs, and Vero Beach, as well as performances throughout Europe, Asia, Canada, and Colombia. The organization’s performances outside New York have increased from 23 during the 2003–2004 season to 73 during the 2025–2026 season.

Under their leadership, CMS also expanded its digital footprint through partnerships with organizations and platforms including NPR, Medici TV, All Arts, Tencent Music, and Apple Music Classical. The organization currently offers nearly 2,000 free archival performance videos through its website.

Finckel and Wu Han said in a joint statement, “While CMS is in good health, this is not a moment to coast on its accomplishments. What CMS can do for chamber music goes far beyond presenting successful concerts.”

Executive Director Suzanne Davidson said the pair had helped grow CMS into “the largest international chamber music producing and presenting organization in the world.”

In addition to their work at CMS, Finckel and Wu Han are co-founders and co-artistic directors of Music@Menlo and founders of the classical recording label ArtistLed.
