It’s another busy Friday of album releases (as you can read about on Notable Releases and Indie Basement ), and there’s also a trio of high profile new singles we’re psyched for. Charli XCX technically dropped “SS26” on Thursday night. It follows her foray into “Rock Music” earlier this month, and its video has Charli walking a runway “straight to hell.” She sent out the lyrics in a post to her Substack earlier this week, and she also posted a statement to social media on Tuesday, writing:

> excited for you all to hear this new music. i can only ever make what feels true to me. i’m not thinking about anything else while i’m making it. not reception or audience or anything else. just my connection with it and whether it feels honest to me. if you get me, you get me and if you don’t, you don’t. and thats ok

Mike D ‘s new single follows “Switch Up,” the track he released earlier this month, which was the first major music from a Beastie Boys member since 2011’s Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 , and Adam Yauch’s death a year later. Like that one, “What We Got” had its genesis in sessions with his sons David and Skyler, and it also features Jason Lader, Benjamin Pacheco, Kevin Rhomberg, Carter Lang and Tyran Donaldson. It arrives ahead of his Brooklyn shows on Friday & Saturday (5/22-5/23) at Xanadu .

Olivia Rodrigo has shared “The Cure,” which is the second single off her new album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love , following the The Cure-referencing “Drop Dead.” She told the Elvis Duran Show that this song “has nothing to do with the band,” but reiterated she and Robert Smith “talk like, every week.”

Olivia also recorded an episode of NYT’s Popcast, which is out on May 28, and she appeared at an NYC event for her new single on Thursday night. Her arena tour , which includes ten nights at Barclays Center, begins in September.
