Masked artist Chuyin’s new album, ‘Los Locos Nunca Mueren,’ has debuted on both the Regional Mexican Albums and Top Latin Albums charts.

The 16-track set was released May 7 on Fuerza Regida’s label, Street Mob Records.
“The truth is, I am very proud that thanks to my immortals, we made it to the Billboard charts,” the crocheted-masked singer, whose identity is not known to the public, tells Billboard . “This is my first album, and I put all my effort and love into it. This is just the beginning, but it feels very special to know that the fans are listening to it and enjoying the music.”

Los Locos Nunca Mueren begins with 8,000 units earned in the United States in the tracking week of May 8-14, according to Luminate. Streaming contributed most of the set’s first-week total, equating to 8.2 million official on-demand streams of the album’s songs. (A negligible amount of activity stems from traditional album sales and track-equivalent sales.)
In April, Chuyin unveiled Los Locos Nunca Mueren and the next chapter of his career. Through a series of Instagram posts, the masked artist stepped fully into his rebellious alter ego, which is on full display in the 16-track project packed with collaborations from labelmates Fuerza Regida, and with Calle 24, Luis R Conriquez, Oscar Maydon and Jorssh.
Meanwhile, both songs see higher first-week results on Hot Regional Mexican Songs : “Ni Pedo” begins at No. 12, while “Pues Qué Le Hago?” bows at No. 19. The latter also improved on Regional Mexican Airplay, climbing 36-29.
In addition to its top 10 debut on Regional Mexican Albums and its top 20 start on Top Latin Albums, the album makes an impact on a song level. “Pues Ya Ni Pedo,” with Fuerza Regida, enters the Hot Latin Songs at No. 29, while “Pues Qué Le Hago?” debuts at No. 39.
