MNRK Music Group has promoted Dan Hawie to Managing Director of Last Gang Records, effective immediately.

The Toronto-based executive will oversee the label’s full P&L and take on expanded leadership across A&R and brand strategy, according to an announcement on Monday (May 11) .

Hawie will report to Randy Derebegian , MNRK’s VP of Artist Development, and Chris Moncada , COO of MNRK Music Group.

About the appointment, Moncada said: “Dan cares deeply about the legacy of the label and the artists who built it. I’m thrilled to see him evolve into this role and continue to forge the path of Last Gang for years to come.”

Derebegian added: “Dan has already been an integral part of Last Gang’s success over the past decade, and I couldn’t be happier for him to move into the role of Managing Director to provide extra focus to this next phase of the label.

“He has the relationships and ear for what will help shape the future of Last Gang , and the timing is perfect with exciting new projects and signings underway.”

Hawie joined Last Gang in 2017 and most recently served as Director of Marketing and A&R, steering global operations and campaigns for both Last Gang and Dualtone Music Group in Canada.

Before MNRK, he held marketing positions at Dine Alone Records and Nevado Records .

According to MNRK, Hawie has worked with a roster of Grammy- and JUNO-recognized artists including The Lumineers , Death From Above 1979 , Chromeo , Keys N Krates , Kathleen Edwards , and Stars .

Hawie said: “I’m incredibly honoured to carry the legacy of Last Gang forward.

“Twenty-one years in, our ‘Us Against The World’ mentality continues to fuel everything we do. Foundational artists like Death From Above 1979 , Metric, and Mother Mother are still shaping culture today, while our new guard, including Bella Poarch, Ho99o9, Loving, and Mondo Cozmo, continues to push boundaries and move the culture forward.”

“I’m grateful to help preserve that independent spirit, and especially proud to champion such incredible art with the same passion and belief as the artists creating it,” Hawie added.

The promotion arrives days after Bella Poarch released her new single Ribcage on May 1 , marking the start of a partnership with Last Gang ahead of her debut album Picnic at the Cemetery , due this fall.

Last Gang Records was co-founded by Chris Taylor in 2003 to release Metric ‘s debut album Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? , and was acquired by Entertainment One in 2016 .

MNRK’s parent company acquired the music business from Hasbro for $385 million in 2021 , when it operated as eOne Music , before rebranding to MNRK Music Group later that year. The company is controlled by private equity funds managed by Blackstone .

Moncada was promoted to COO of MNRK in October 2024, having joined the company in 2015 as GM of Last Gang .

MNRK acquired L.A.-headquartered metal label Prosthetic Records in June 2025 , with the label now operating under the MNRK Heavy umbrella.

MNRK says its catalog across divisions comprises 70,000 music tracks, including multiple Grammy winners and platinum-selling hits. Music Business Worldwide
