Daveigh Chase, whose career as a child actress included roles in Lilo & Stitch , The Ring , and Donnie Darko , has died at the age of 35, TMZ reports . The cause of death, according to her boyfriend Roy Hernandez, was meningitis and a blood infection, leading to septic issues.

Chase’s career began when she was around the age of 8, with small film roles and guest-starring appearances on shows like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and ER . In 2001, she played the young sister of titular character Donnie Darko , one of the members of dance troupe Sparkle Motion, and in 2002 she was the voice of young Lilo in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch , a character she’d reprise for multiple spinoff projects including Lilo & Stitch: The Series , which ran for 67 episodes.

2002 also saw her take on the terrifying role of Samara in the English-language remake of The Ring , and in 2009 she once again played Samantha Darko in the spinoff movie S. Darko . She also appeared in four seasons of the HBO dramedy Big Love as Rhonda, the teenage bride of a polygamist cult leader.
