Internationally renowned and award-winning company Plexus Polaire (Moby Dick, Barbican) will haunt Pleasance at the EICC this Edinburgh Festival Fringe with the UK premiere of their beautifully tragic Dracula - Lucy's Dream. This hypnotic reimagining of Bram Stoker 's immortal gothic masterpiece is a dark, sensual and visually breathtaking show that portrays the myth of Dracula through the female lens of his first victim, Lucy.

Through her life-sized puppetry, director Yngvild Aspeli digs deep into the immortal dark secret of human nature, passed on from one generation to the next. Dracula - Lucy's Dream is an ethereal and intoxicating descent into desire, fear and female emancipation, as audiences are taken on an eerily graceful journey into Lucy's psychosis. In a battle against dominance, addiction, seduction and inner demons, victims become victorious in this deliciously visual retelling of overcoming evil.

Director Yngvild Aspeli comments, To play the Fringe is to enter a living, breathing organism of artists and audiences from across the world. It is as much about sharing the work as it is about what comes after and three weeks of performance is a rare and precious time. Dracula is ready... let's bring out those teeth and bite into the Fringers!

Dracula - Lucy's Dream offers a variation on the alluring attraction to the vampire for audiences to sink their teeth into, utilising the mystic figure to instead investigate the contradictions that lie in each of us - what we desire the most without ever being able to say it, what terrifies us and fascinates us at the same time, and what we should not do and choose to do anyway. Performances will run August 6-29.
