Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, including Shadow Of The Erdtree, set for summer Nintendo Switch 2 release

The Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Elden Ring finally has a release date and you’ll be able to play the Tarnished edition later this summer.

Before the Switch 2 had even launched, it was confirmed a number of blockbuster titles would finally be made available to Nintendo owners including Borderlands 4 , an upgraded version of Hogwarts Legacy and a special Tarnished edition of Elden Ring .

The updated version of Elden Ring had been due to launch at some point last year but was delayed until 2026 . “While development on Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition continues wholeheartedly toward release, we have decided to move the launch to 2026 to allow time for performance adjustments,” explained game developers FromSoftware. “We apologise to players looking forward to the game and thank you for your patience and support.” Prior to the delay, it had been reported that the Nintendo Switch 2 had been struggling to run an Elden Ring demo .

However it’s now been confirmed that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will launch August 28.

The release will feature the “acclaimed expansion Shadow Of The Erdtree [which] features an epic new adventure expanding on the story of the original. The title also features brand new content including two new Starting Classes for players to choose along with new character armour and the ability to customise Torrent, players’ faithful Spectral Steed,” publishers Bandai Namco explained in a news post . The upgraded take on the hit game will also be available on Xbox Series X/S , PS5 and PC

An Elden Ring movie is set to hit cinemas in 2028 . Written and directed by Alex Garland, the adaptation will star Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, Tom Burke and Nick Offerman . A24 have not shared any information about the plot of the movie, though Banda Namco have shared a brief description of the hugely-successful open-world game on the film’s website . “Created under the guidance of FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, based on a mythological story written by George R. R. Martin, this action RPG debuted in 2022. It allows players to explore vast environments and dungeons to discover the unknown and enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes from overcoming obstacles and challenges.”

In other news, Grand Theft Auto  fans were questioned by police after snooping around Rockstar’s HQ in Edinburgh .
