Following its sold-out, twice-extended run at St. Luke's Theatre, Eliya Smith 's Dad Don't Read This will transfer to Greenwich House Theater (27 Barrow St) for a strictly limited engagement, June 17 – July 11, 2026. Directed by Chloe Claudel , this world premiere features performances by Drama Desk winner Amalia Yoo (John Proctor is the Villain), Renée- Nicole Powell (Grief Camp), Sophie Rossman , and Kayta Thomas . For the transfer to Greenwich House, which is set to open on Tuesday, June 23, Runyonland Productions has joined as Executive Producer.

Dad Don't Read This is set in suburban Central Ohio, where four girls meet weekly for a sleepover. They talk and sleep and play The Sims, a computer game that simulates real life, on a laptop. They gossip, snack, and attempt to get drunk. They strive to fulfill their needs, struggle to understand the relationship between doing and being seen, and begin to suspect they don't have a whole lot of agency. Wait, nevermind; that's The Sims.

Dad Don't Read This is about the people who know you before you know anything.

“Dad Don't Read This is my love letter to adolescence and to teenage friendship and also an attempt to document how excruciating it is to be only partially a person,” says playwright Eliya Smith . “I'm deeply moved by the way audiences, especially young people, have embraced this play.”

The creative team for Dad Don't Read This includes Forest Entsminger (scenic & props design), Olivia Vaughn Hern (costume design), Abigail Sage (lighting design), Mitchell Polonsky (sound design), Lena Engelstein (choreography), Dante Gonzalez (costume consultant), Mya Piccione (production stage manager), Madeline Riddick-Seals (assistant stage manager), and Arin Edelstein (production assistant).

The production team includes Kerrigan Quenemoen (lead producer), Immediate Medium (general management), Ethan Fuirst (marketing), June Buck (graphic design), Mitchell Polonsky (production manager), Blaise Ylianna Hewlett (associate producer & associate production manager), and Elena Messinger (associate producer). Arturo Chavez , Jennifer Friedland , and GirlPox are co-producers.

Eliya Smith (playwright) is a writer from Ohio. Off-Broadway: Grief Camp (Atlantic Theater Company; Keene Prize Finalist, Venturous Grant). Chloe Claudel (Director) is a director, performer and choreographer. She is co-artistic director of The Goat Exchange, a NY-based experimental performance ensemble with which she has created over 20 original works. With The Goat Exchange she has developed work at BAM, HERE Arts Center, New Ohio Ice Factory Festival, London VAULT Festival, LaMaMa, Torn Page, Ars Nova and Mabou Mines . Recent credits include The Barbarians (LaMaMa), Forest of Metal Objects (The Met Cloisters), Deadclass, Ohio (The Tank), TIME PASSES ( Mabou Mines , Target Margin), Two Girls (Ars Nova, Cherry Lane Theatre ) and What to Wear (BAM).

Born and raised in NYC, Amalia Yoo most recently made her Broadway debut in the Tony-nominated play, John Proctor is the Villain, which earned her a 2024-2025 Drama Desk Award. Prior to that, she performed Off-Broadway as Luna in Grief Camp at the Atlantic Theater and Joey in SLUT: The Play at NPR's Greene Space. On-screen credits include No Hard Feelings and Netflix's “Grand Army.” She is a proud alumnus of LaGuardia High School.

Renée- Nicole Powell is a graduate from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Her training includes the Stella Adler Conservatory and the Ernst Busch Academy in Berlin. Select credits: Olivia in Grief Camp (dir. Les Waters ), Angelica in Daughters of the Ruling Class (dir. Aidan La Poche ), and Jada in Zoomers (dir. Matthew Gasda). Shakespeare credits include Lucio in Measure for Measure (dir. John Gould Rubin ).

Sophie Rossman is an NYC-based actor and theatre-maker. Rossman's recent stage credits include The Arden of Faversham (IRT Theater), Jonathan Journals Spontaneously Combusted ( Clubbed Thumb ), Family (La Mama ETC), Blood Brothers (Rehearsal for Truth Festival), The Seagull (The Clemente Soto Vélez), and A Lie of the Mind (American Theatre of Actors). Her select film credits include Clare (SXSW 2022), The Awakening of Edwin Lorde, and Murder in Maplewood. Rossman trained at NYU Tisch ( Stella Adler , ETW), as well as internationally at Tisch's International Theatre Workshop in Amsterdam and at Arthaus, Berlin's Centre for Devised Theatre.

Kayta Thomas (they/them) is an experimental performance artist based in Brooklyn, New York. They specialize in puppetry, physical acting, direction, movement, and performance technology. With a transdisciplinary approach, Kayta enjoys creating new worlds and bringing feelings that are often hidden, to light.
