The Hispanic Organization of Latin Artists (HOLA) has announced that acclaimed Costume Designer , educator, and arts advocate Emilio Sosa has been named Chair of HOLA and the HOLA Awards.

A celebrated creative leader whose career spans Broadway, television, film, fashion, and arts advocacy, Sosa most recently served as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the American Theatre Wing, the organization that co-presents the Tony Awards and serves as one of the nation's leading champions of theater artists and arts education.

Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in the Bronx, Sosa is a six-time Tony Award-nominated Costume Designer whose acclaimed work includes Topdog/Underdog, Porgy and Bess, Motown: The Musical, On Your Feet!, 1776, Ain't No Mo', Good Night, Oscar, Sweeney Todd, and A Beautiful Noise. He has received numerous additional honors throughout his career, including a Lucille Lortel Award, Drama Desk nominations, NAACP Theatre Awards, and the LA Ovation Award.

Beyond the stage, Sosa has designed for film and television projects including Descendants: The Rise of Red, for which he earned an Emmy nomination, Annie Live!, and The Great Lillian Hall , collaborated with artists such as Diana Ross , Mariah Carey , Gloria Estefan , and Usher.

Founded in 1975, HOLA has spent 50 years advocating for the advancement, visibility, and authentic representation of Latino artists working across theater, film, television, and emerging media. Through advocacy, professional development, community building, and the annual HOLA Awards, the organization continues to champion Latino excellence throughout the entertainment industry.

As Chair, Sosa will help guide HOLA into its next chapter while honoring its legacy as one of the nation's leading Latino arts organizations.

He was previously honored by HOLA with the Ilka Award for Advocacy in recognition of his contributions to the Latino arts community.
