Garth Brooks Considers $2 Billion Catalog Sale

Garth Brooks , the superstar who redefined country music for a new era of arena touring, is seeking to sell his catalog for an eye-popping number — $2 billion.

If it closed, it would be among the largest music catalog sales in history, per the Wall Street Journal . But also worth noting that just because artist teams — sorry, make that “people familiar with the matter” — tell the Journal their dream sale number, that doesn’t mean they’ll get it. But there’s precedent for the strategy working; The Weeknd announced in August of 2025 that he was seeking $1 billion in exotic financing backed by his catalog, and he closed on the partnership last December.

Brooks has sold more than 200 million albums in the US alone, he created a sick alternate persona named Chris Gaines who had a full head of hair, and his tours have consistently ranked among the best-selling treks of the year. You can even see him now, if you like; tickets are available here .
