Glastonbury 2026: A Look at What the Weather Could Have Been

Fans currently have to wait until 2027 for another Glasto due to this summer being a fallow year . The next edition of the festival will take place between Wednesday June 23 and Sunday June 27, 2027 .

Glastonbury traditionally takes a year off for one in every five to allow the farmland to recover. It’s a concept that originates from agricultural practices, where land is left unplanted to improve soil quality and to allow it to replenish its nutrients for cattle grazing.

The last official fallow year was in 2018, but organisers had to cancel two consecutive years in 2020  and  2021 due to the pandemic .

It also offers a break for the community in Pilton, where the festival is held.  Speaking about fallow years  in  The Glastonbury Free Press  as Glastonbury 2025, Michael Eavis said: “I invented those in the ’80s, because it was very stressful with the licence, the police, the village, the press and the council.

“I thought, ‘We’ll give them all a break so they’ve got nothing to complain about for a bit!’ And of course, the farm gets a rest. It was a really good idea. I think we’ll be ready for a break next year!”

Had Glasto been going ahead, however, it would have taken place between Thursday, June 24 to Sunday, June 28, keeping to its traditional timing on the last full weekend of June.

As it turns out, it would have been a dry, sunny year. Take a look at the latest BBC Weather forecast below (last updated 12:00, Wednesday June 17).

Thursday June 25:  Sunny with a gentle breeze all day. Highs of 25°C with the temperature cooling to 14°C in the evening.

Friday June 26:  A small chance of light showers in the morning, but otherwise sunny with a breeze all day. Temperatures from 15 to 25°C.

Saturday June 27:  Sunny intervals with a moderate breeze. Slightly overcast at time, but still warm temperatures between 15 and 24°C.

Sunday June 28:  A small chance of rain until around midday, with sunshine into the afternoon. Temperatures from 14 to 24°C.

It keeps with a pattern of recent Glastos, including last year, in being mostly sunny and dry without extreme temperatures  – like 2017’s hottest year on record – or mudslides – as was famously the case in 2016 .

2025’s instalment of the Worthy Farm festival  saw  The 1975 ,  Neil Young  and  Olivia Rodrigo  headline the iconic Pyramid Stage. Other performances came from the likes of  Charli XCX ,  Wolf Alice ,  Rod Stewart ,  Doechii  and  Kneecap .

Looking ahead to Glastonbury 2027,  bookmakers are already taking bets on who could headline . Rumours include  Sam Fender ,  Ed Sheeran ,  Rihanna  and  Little Simz .

It’s also been rumoured that the Rolling Stones might be headlining, after Mick Jagger recently opened up about the possibility of a new tour being announced, and said that he hopes to do some “shows next year” .
