The gothic musical will perform this August at Paradise Factory Theatre in New York City.

Laros Theatre will present MY GHOSTS, a new gothic musical by David and Erica Laros, as part of the inaugural Diamond Mesh ManiFestival this summer in New York City. Performances will take place August 3, August 4, and August 8 at 3:30 p.m. at the Paradise Factory Theatre.

The musical follows acclaimed writer Cab Curio as he confronts his most persistent “inner critics” — the ghosts of Shakespeare, Marlowe, and Jack Wilson — while racing against time to rediscover his creative voice. Assisted by Lenore, a mysterious clocktower ghost, Curio reconnects with his passion for music in what the production describes as a dark musical comedy about artistry, self-doubt, and imagination.

The production is being presented as part of the ManiFestival, a new works festival produced by Diamond Mesh Inc. Theatrical Productions and led by Matt Bader and Faith Pasch. Running July 16 through August 9, the festival explores themes of isolation, legacy, addiction, and artistic connection through a lineup of experimental productions and special events.

The presentation of MY GHOSTS is timed to coincide with the birthday celebration of Percy Bysshe Shelley, husband of Mary Shelley .

Described as a fantastical dark musical comedy, MY GHOSTS centers on Cab Curio’s struggle against the literal manifestations of his artistic anxieties. As a ticking clock counts down, Curio turns to Lenore, a ghost with secrets of her own, in an attempt to reclaim his voice before it is too late.

The musical features a book by Erica Elsa Laros, a poet, artist, and New York Times-published obituary writer, with music and lyrics by David Laros, an international piano entertainer, composer, and director. The work previously received two workshop productions in New York and has also been featured on Channel Indie TV.

Diamond Mesh Inc. created the ManiFestival as a response to what the company describes as increasing social and digital isolation, with the goal of fostering connection between artists and audiences through new theatrical work.

In addition to MY GHOSTS and a slate of one- and two-night-only events, the festival’s mainstage lineup includes Club 27 by Maeve Z. O'Connor starring Faith Pasch; Piss.jpg?format=auto&width=900 ( Working Title ) by and starring Michael Gardiner and Justin Jager, directed by Daniel Yaiullo ; and The Silly William Gambit, written by and starring Matt Bader and directed by Justin Jager.
