When Grace's mum took her book on dating to publishers in the late 80s, she was told it would set feminism back 20 years. Now it's time to share this unapologetic how-to-guide with the world! Transformed into a comedy musical, the award-winning Grace O'Keefe (Summoning Sondheim; Sense & Sensibility) plays her mother, unpacking relationships, romance and living life to the fullest. It's time to determine where feminism lies in today's dating scene.

An A to Z Guide to Dating uses the unorthodox dating tips Grace's mother put to paper in Feast at the Famine in this charmingly addictive musical romp through the alphabet. Featuring original music spanning 80's synthpop to lyrically driven showtunes, and a one-of-a-kind insight into the world of dating, this musical is a relatable exploration of relationships and learning to appreciate the relationships that matter the most - that of a mother and daughter.

This production confronts the prevailing expectations we place on ourselves and how they can be dictated by our parents in a chaotic yet endearing race through dating know-hows.

Writer and performer Grace O'Keefe comments, I am so excited to be exposing audiences to my mom's dating advice book, which has been locked away in a file cabinet for the past forty years. Now when the dating landscape is more dire than ever, I am thrilled to teach the masses how to date "plentifully" as my mother advises. It's thrillingly terrifying to be taking my first solo-show to the Fringe but I'm comforted knowing my mom is a role I was born to play.

An A to Z Guide to Dating marks Grace's first solo Fringe show, developed in Soho Theatre's Drag and Cabaret Lab. Her production company Queen of Cups has had sell-out runs at previous Edinburgh Festival Fringes with Bad Teacher and Summoning Sondheim, with the team winning Best Newcomers at the Musical Comedy Awards in 2024.
