Award-winning playwright, lyricist and actress Gretchen Cryer (I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road, The Last Sweet Days of Isaac) will offer a 1-hour Master Class on Monday, June 22nd at 6:30pm as part of Theatre Now's Industry Nights. The evening will feature 4 songs written by Musical Writers Lab members Kit Goldstein Grant , Jessie Field & James Martinez Salem, Carrie Caffrey & Earl Marrows, and Andrew Strano & Yuriko Shibata. A wine and cheese reception will follow.

Theatre Now's Industry Nights are an ongoing series of special events featuring experts in the field of musical theatre. Past evenings have included Master Classes with Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty , Andrew Lippa , Adam Gwon , Kait Kerrigan , and many more as well as a Dorico workshop, Collaborator Mix & Mingles, and Panel Discussions. These events are held in Midtown Manhattan and are free for Theatre Now members. Non-members can buy individual tickets or become a member to reserve tickets for the whole series. Gretchen Cryer is a playwright, lyricist, performer, and director most well known for writing and starring in I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking it on the Road (with music by Nancy Ford ), which won the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Musical and Best Actress as well as a Grammy nomination for the album. Gretchen has written numerous other shows with Nancy Ford including Shelter, Now is the Time for All Good Men, The Last Sweet Days of Isaac (Obie Award - Best Musical, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award), Hang on to the Good Times, Eleanor, Anne of Green Gables and Still Getting My Act Together. She also wrote the musical House on Fire in collaboration with her granddaughter, singer/songwriter Grace Hyland. Gretchen is on the Dramatist Guild Council and is President Emeritus of the Dramatists Guild Foundation . Gretchen and Nancy were just awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Dramatists Guild.

Theatre Now New York (TNNY) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of new musicals primarily known for their annual SOUND BITES Festival of 10-Minute Musicals. They also produce developmental readings and productions of new musicals developed in their Musical Writers Lab and host the monthly Verse Intro Cabaret series at SoHo Playhouse in addition to their monthly Industry Nights.
