Riverside Theatre has announced a private industry reading of THE MOUSE and THE MUSTACHE by Anthony Dodge on May 11, ahead of the play’s planned world premiere production at the theatre in February 2027.

The play imagines a 1947 meeting between Walt Disney and Salvador Dalí in a Hollywood hotel, where the two artists debate art, commerce, and creativity before forming an unexpected partnership.

The reading will feature Max Mendoza Crumm as Salvador Dalí, James Taylor Odom as Walt Disney , and Richard B. Watson as The Narrator. The presentation will be directed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge , with casting by Scott Wojcik and the Wojcik Casting Team .

Dodge previously received an Edgar Award nomination from the Mystery Writers of America for SHERLOCK HOLMES & THE WEST END HORROR, co-written with Marcia Milgrom Dodge and adapted from the novel by Nicholas Meyer. His other works include LOOK HOMEWARD HONKY TONK ANGEL, HATS! A Musical For The Rest Of Your Life, VENUS FLYTRAP: A Femme Noir Mystery, FALLING LESSONS, and FREE Burt Lancaster .

Milgrom Dodge received Tony, Drama Desk, and Astaire Award nominations for her work on Ragtime on Broadway and currently serves as the American Show Director for Tokyo Disneyland’s 40th Anniversary Parade “Harmony in Color.” Her regional directing and choreography credits include EVITA at Riverside Theatre, Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST at Olney Theatre Center, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES at The Muny, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at St. Louis Rep and Cincinnati Playhouse .

Built in 1973, Riverside Theatre produces musicals, plays, children’s theatre, lectures, and comedy programming in Vero Beach and serves more than 120,000 patrons annually.
