Julia Jacklin has announced a new album, The Gem . The Australian singer-songwriter will share the Pre Pleasure follow-up on September 25 via her new label , 4AD . Below, listen to the first single “ Get Away From Me (I Think I’ll Love You Soon) .”
“I want to love and be loved, but I also want to be free. The tension between those two things has been the central question of my life,” Jacklin said in press materials. “The Gem felt like a metaphor for the whole process, because a lot of it did feel like digging. I felt like I was doing it almost in the dark, just trusting I was going to find something.”
The Gem is titled after a pub and live music venue in Melbourne, Australia, where Jacklin moved from Sydney in 2017. She and her band recorded the album in a hotel room-turned-studio space located right above the bar. Jacklin will tour The Gem across North America and Europe from October through early 2027.
