June marks the beginning of summer, and Broadway fans can beat the heat with a slew of new movies, shows, and music.
The beginning of the month sees the wide release of the highly anticipated movie musical Power Book, which stars Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas . Streaming titles include Office Romance, a star-studded romantic comedy led by Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein. On June 16, Disney+ will debut A Spark Into A Flame: Hamilton & Hip Hop , a new documentary about Lin-Manuel Miranda 's Tony Award-winning musical.
Other theatrical releases include Stop! That! Train, the new disaster comedy from the world of RuPaul's Drag Race, and The Death of Robin Hood, A24's take on the legendary folklore figure starring Tony-winner Hugh Jackman . Speaking of Tonys, the 79th Annual Tony Awards will air this month, spotlighting the best of Broadway from the 2026/27 season.
As for music, June will see the release of Night Blooms , the latest album from Jeff Goldblum , featuring new performances from him and his Wicked co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande . The studio EP recording of Caesar: The Musical will also be available this month.

Power Ballad is a new musical comedy led by Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas . The movie tells the story of a past-his-prime wedding singer, Rick (Rudd), who crosses paths with a fading boyband star, Danny (Jonas), during a gig. After the two bond over music and a late-night jam session, Danny turns one of Rick’s songs into a hit that reignites his career and Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he deserves, even if it means risking everything.
The movie is directed by John Carney (of Once and Sing Street fame), who co-wrote the screenplay with Peter McDonald , who also stars. The cast also includes Havana Rose Liu , Marcella Plunkett , and Jack Reynor. Now in select theaters, the movie opens nationwide on June 5 from Lionsgate.
Led by Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein, Office Romance is a new raunchy romantic comedy from Netflix. Lopez plays a powerful CEO and Goldstein is her airline’s newest lawyer, leading to a steamy romance between these two workaholics after they stop playing by the rules and start following their hearts.
The ensemble cast features a mix of stage and screen stars, including Betty Gilpin (Oh, Mary!), Amy Sedaris , Tony Hale , Bradley Whitford , and Edward James Olmos . Broadway alums Roger Bart and Ali Stroker also appear, in addition to Rick Hoffman , Jodie Whittaker , Mary Wiseman , Tony Plana , Natalie Ortega , Jackie Sandler, Michelle Hurd , Mo Welch, Donald Elise Watkins, Brian Gallivan , Scott Seiss, Lisa Gilroy, and Will Sasso .
Lorne is the new behind-the-scenes documentary spotlighting the life of Lorne Michaels , the famed Saturday Night Live creator and a co-producer on Broadway's Schmigadoon! From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville (Won't You Be My Neighbor), Lorne takes a look at the man who built the monumental comedy brand, which went on to shape the future of television.
The documentary features exclusive footage, archival treasures, and candid interviews with the show’s most iconic cast members and writers, including Tina Fey , Maya Rudolph , John Mulaney , Andy Samberg , Conan O’Brien, Chris Rock , and more.
The 79th Annual Tony Awards will return to Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, June 7. Hosted by music superstar and global icon P!NK, The American Theatre Wing’s Tony Awards will broadcast LIVE to both coasts on the CBS Television Network, and stream on Paramount+ (8:00 – 11:00 PM ET/5:00 – 8:00 PM PT).
Prior to the broadcast, Tony Award-winner and five-time Tony Award nominee Laura Benanti and six-time Emmy and SAG-nominated actor, musician, and writer Tituss Burgess will host The Tony Awards: Act One, a live pre-show with exclusive content that is available to viewers for free on Pluto TV. This will begin Sunday, June 7 at 6:35-8:00 PM, ET/3:35-5:00 PM, PT.
Directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray), Stop! That! Train! follows best friends Tess ( Ginger Minj ) and DeeDee (Jujubee), train stewardesses who trade their dreary shifts on the Stank Rail for the glitzy Glamazonian Express. When a catastrophic “Stormaganza” threatens to derail the high-speed train and crash it into Los Angeles, the duo in coach must join forces with the snobby first-class attendants (Symone, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Marcia Marcia Marcia) and President Gagwell (RuPaul) to save the day.
Additional Drag Race alums in the movie include Latrice Royale , Monét X Change, and Michelle Visage . The movie also stars Crazy Ex-Girlfriend creator Rachel Bloom and Matt Rogers (Las Culturistas), along with Sarah Michelle Gellar appearing as herself, Chris Parnell , Tony Award winner Jesse Tyler Ferguson , Charo, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Natasha Leggero , Drew Droege , Raven-Symoné, and Joel McHale .
Disclosure Day is Steven Spielberg 's latest film, starring Emily Blunt , West End alum Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth , Eve Hewson , and Tony Award nominee Colman Domingo . Based on a story by Spielberg and a screenplay by David Koepp, the movie chronicles the consequences that occur when secret information is revealed that confirms the existence of extraterrestrial life on Earth.
Beloved composer John Williams has written the film's score, marking his 30th feature film with Spielberg, with Tony and Academy Award-winner Paul Tazewell as the film's Costume Designer .
The fifth and final season of “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” sees Kanan eager to seize the throne as Southside’s latest kingpin, alongside his new business partner, Breeze. I n a major twist, Raquel Thomas (played by Tony-winner Patina Miller ), Kanan’s formidable mother, is still alive following her showdown with Kanan in the Season Four finale. However, this time she is no longer interested in protecting her once-beloved son.

The documentary features the voices of Hamilton writer, performer, and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda , along with many of the artists and creatives who had a front-row seat to the musical phenomenon, including music icons Busta Rhymes , Nas, Questlove, Black Thought , Angie Martinez , Common, Dessa, Residente and more.
The Death of Robin Hood is a new reimagining of the folklore legend, with Tony-winning Hugh Jackman . Hailing from writer/director Michael Sarnoski and A24, the movie depicts Robin Hood as an aging man full of regrets about his past life of crime and murder, who is offered a chance at salvation by a mysterious woman after he suffers a grave injury.
Jackman leads the cast alongside fellow Tony winner Jodie Comer , who appeared on Broadway and the West End in Suzie Miller ’s Prima Facie and recently reprised her role as Tessa Ensler for the U.K. and Ireland tour. Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett , and Noah Jupe round out the cast of the film.
Colin Farrell once again plays the title character in this neo-noir drama, which will return to the streamer with its eight-episode second season on Friday, June 19. A contemporary take on the detective genre, Season 2 sees Sugar back in the City of Angels as he takes on a new missing persons case: searching for the older brother of an up-and-coming local boxer, played by Jin Ha, currently starring in Broadway's Proof.
In addition to Farrell and Ha, the second season of Sugar introduces a brand new cast, including Raymond Lee , Tony Dalton, Laura Donnelly (The Ferryman), Sasha Calle and special guest star Shea Whigham.
This month, actor Jeff Goldblum is releasing his latest jazz album, Night Bloom, featuring his longtime band, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. Serving as a companion to his 2025 record Still Blooming, the new album includes performances with Wicked co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande , as well as those from Melody Gardot, Charlie Puth , dodie, Haley Reinhart , Maiya Sykes, and Scarlett Johansson .
One of the tracks is a cover of "If I Only Had a Brain," as originally heard in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. The jazzy duet follows their turns as The Wizard and Elphaba in the two-part Wicked film, respectively. Stream it below, ahead of the full album on June 5.
The studio EP recording of Caesar: The Musical will be released in digital and streaming formats on Friday, June 19. Caesar: The Musical is a new adaptation of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, reimagined for a cast of all women. With book, music, and lyrics by Grace Yurchuk, the work remains rooted in Shakespeare’s original text while introducing a contemporary score. The EP is produced by Robbie Rozelle and features orchestrations by Alex Arlotta, with Yasuhiko Fukuoka serving as music director.
The recording features Samantha Pauly (The Great Gatsby, Six), Savy Jackson (Maybe Happy Ending, Bad Cinderella), Elizabeth Teeter (Heathers, Beetlejuice), Samantha Pollino (Chess, The Great Gatsby), Sherz Aletaha (Merrily We Roll Along), Cara Rose DiPietro, Katherine Lynn-Rose, Abigail Lehrer, and Grace Yurchuk. Ensemble members include Emily Frick, Maggie Greene, Clare Martin, Victoria Nichols, and Megan Onello.
