Justin Cary, longtime bassist of Sixpence None the Richer, has died at the age of 50.
According to a GoFundMe page , Cary had suffered a serious stroke last week and underwent two surgeries in the days that followed. He passed away Thursday morning.
Cary joined Sixpence None the Richer in 1997, the same year the band released their blockbuster self-titled third studio album. Although he played on only one track from that record — the band’s hit cover of The La’s “There She Goes” — he eventually became an integral member. Cary went on to contribute significantly to the group’s final three studio albums and remained a consistent presence in their touring lineup across multiple breakups and lineup configurations.
