Written by Gregg Luck and the late Bowman, “The Healing Kind” appeared on Seals’ album, In A Quiet Room, and sees Seals recognize the loss he feels over a broken relationship and the sorrow he can’t seem to shake. This is the latest release from Dan Seals & Friends: The Last Duet, coming August 28 via Melody Place Records.

“Singing ‘The Healing Kind’ was both emotional and beautiful. Dan’s voice and spirit are still so present in the music, and I’m honored to have been part of keeping that legacy alive,” says McPhee.

McPhee is known for her run on Season Five of FOX’s American Idol, earning the runner-up spot. She continues to tour across the globe, as several of her hit songs have charted in multiple genres including pop, jazz and adult contemporary. The musician has also been seen acting in various television shows including Scorpion, SMASH, and Country Comfort. She frequently performs with 16-time GRAMMY award-winner and husband, David Foster, and is currently in Nashville working on new music to be released in the coming months.

McPhee has released five studio albums, with her self-titled debut record earning No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 chart in 2007. The recording artist also made her Broadway debut in 2018, playing the lead role as “Jenna” in Waitress, and later originated the role in the West End production.

Seals first gained fame as "England Dan" in the pop-rock duo, England Dan & John Ford Coley. The pair’s 1976 song "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight" became a pop hit, and was followed by other classics, "Nights Are Forever Without You” and “Love Is The Answer."

In 1984, "God Must Be a Cowboy" gave him his first country top 10 hit, paving the way for a run of 11 No. 1 Billboard country hits. Hits include "Bop," "Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold)," and "Meet Me in Montana" with Marie Osmond. His work earned him two CMA awards, multiple GRAMMY nominations and a loyal fanbase.

When the radio hits slowed, Seals remained a touring act, later performing with his brother Jim (from Seals & Crofts) as Seals & Seals, bringing their respective catalogs to audiences worldwide. Diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma in 2007, Seals passed away on March 25, 2009, at 8:30 p.m. He was posthumously inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2025.
