Laura Benanti and Tituss Burgess to Host Tony Awards: Act One, Streaming Live June 7

Tony winner Laura Benanti and six-time Emmy nominee Tituss Burgess will co-host The Tony Awards: Act One , a live pre-show on Pluto TV that precedes the 79th Annual Tony Awards.

The Tony Awards: Act One will be available for free on Pluto TV beginning June 7 at 6:35 PM ET, continuing through 8 PM ET. Benanti and Burgess will kick off Broadway’s biggest night of the year with the presentation of the first round of Tony Awards.

Viewers can access this portion of the Tony celebration on their smart TV, streaming device, mobile app, or online by going to Pluto TV and clicking on the “Live Music” channel, found within the Entertainment category on the service.

The 79th Annual Tony Awards will immediately follow, beginning at 8 PM ET and continuing through 11 PM ET on CBS with live streaming on Paramount+ for Premium-level subscribers. Tickets to attend the Tony Awards are priced at $731.80 (including $136.80 in fees) for third mezzanine and $936.60 (including $141.60 in fees) for second mezzanine, and are available for purchase at Ticketmaster.com . There is a four ticket limit, and all ticket sales are final.

Benanti won the Tony for her performance in the title role of the 2008 revival of Gypsy and has also been seen on Broadway in The Sound of Music, Into the Woods, Nine, She Loves Me, My Fair Lady, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, In the Next Room, Swing!, The Wedding Singer, and Meteor Shower . Her numerous screen credits include Mayor of Kingstown, No Hard Feelings, The Gilded Age, Life & Beth, Younger, Elsbeth, Worth, Goodrich, Gossip Girl, Supergirl, and more. Her solo comedy show is titled Laura Benanti: Nobody Cares.

Burgess, most recently seen on Broadway in the title role of Oh, Mary! , has also appeared on the Main Stem in Moulin Rouge! The Musical , Good Vibrations , Jersey Boys , Guys and Dolls , and The Little Mermaid . He played Titus Andromedon in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt , earning nominations for four consecutive Emmy Awards, a SAG Award, and two Critics’ Choice TV Awards. He also debuted his own musical adaptation of The Preacher’s Wife at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre . Burgess will next be seen in Warner Bros.' The Cat in the Hat , in theatres in November. Other credits include voicing Sunny in Spellbound , the second season of Schmigadoon! , the Netflix films Set It Up and Dolemite Is My Nam , and MGM’s Aretha Franklin biopic, Respect .

The Tony Awards are produced in collaboration with Tony Award Productions, a joint venture of The American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League . Raj Kapoor, Sarah Levine Hall, and Jack Sussman are executive producers of this year’s show. Kapoor and Levine Hall will also serve as co-showrunners. Patrick Menton and Rob Paine will co-executive produce, with Menton also serving as Head of Talent.
