London to Host '90s Rave-Themed World Cup Screenings This Summer

A range of ‘90s rave-themed screenings have been announced for this summer’s World Cup in London.

The tournament is being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico and it opens on June 11, with both England and Scotland set to feature. Because of its North American location, however, many of the games will have late night kick-off times for UK viewers.

To cater for viewers wanting to watch the games in a public space, promoter Kick Off Club has organised events at multiple locations in London.

The warehouse in Hackney Wick’s Colour Factory will host rave-themed watchalongs during the tournament, with DJs soundtracking the build-up to kick-off, as well as half time and full time.

Outernet London will make use of the city’s largest indoor screen to show games, with club soundtracks to accompany pre- and post-match festivities, with the Electric Brixton set to have a ‘90s Britpop club vibe.

All three venues will screen all three of England’s group games – against Croatia at 9pm on June 17, Ghana at 9pm on June 23 and Panama at 10pm on June 27. They will also host any knockout games that England or Scotland go on to play.

The UK’s  Night Time Industries Association has suggested that nightclubs should hold screenings and fan zones during the World Cup , with the late kick-off times being ideal for existing licenses.

“These spaces are built for atmosphere, safety, and community. They have the sound systems, screens, staffing, security and late-night expertise to deliver unforgettable match experiences. For a sector still grappling with financial pressures, the tournament offers a vital commercial opportunity and a chance to bring people together in a way few other settings can achieve.

Madonna, Shakira and BTS have been confirmed as the co-headliners of the World Cup Final halftime show , while  Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, Lisa, Rema and Tyla will headline the US leg of the opening ceremony .
