London's KOKO unveils new recording studio and balcony for 125th anniversary

London’s KOKO venue has announced a new recording studio, balcony and more to be built in honour of its 125 year anniversary.

The iconic Camden venue was founded in 1901, and has hosted shows with giant names such as Madonna, Prince, Amy Winehouse, Coldplay and the Rolling Stones.

Now, KOKO will be getting a huge upgrade with a recording studio to be built in the House of KOKO situated behind the main venue. The studio will be located in the Penthouse, and will be equipped with the same mixing desk used for Kendrick Lamar’s Halftime Super Bowl Show. Artists, House of KOKO members and the KOKO Arts Academy will all be able to use the space.

Meanwhile, the venue is set to receive its own private Miraval Member’s Balcony, where where House of KOKO members can view over 150 live shows each year with their own bar.

This year, KOKO will see a swathe of shows to be played by huge names including a four-night residency from Jon Batiste , Flea and the Honura band, Cassius and more.

Glaswegian art-rockers Life Without Buildings will play their first show in 25 years at KOKO for Rough Trade’s 50th anniversary. Their exclusive reunion show will take place on November 20 – buy your tickets here .
