Settle in, it's time to meet one of the stars of Broadway Across Canada's upcoming production of 'Clue'! I had the opportunity to learn all about the mysterious lady in purple during our one-on-one interview before the show's debut in Calgary.

Who do you play in Clue ? Do you have a lot in common with your character?

I play Mrs. Peacock, the wealthy wife of a senator. She's neurotic, high-strung, quick to hysteria, and always operating at about a level ten! We do share a love of soup, whiskey, and the color purple, but honestly, we don't have much in common, and that's exactly what I love about playing her. I love stepping into larger-than-life character roles, especially one as iconic as Mrs. Peacock. It's such a fun opportunity to become someone completely different from myself every night.

Is this your first Broadway Across Canada show?

This is actually my second time performing with Broadway Across Canada! From 2021 to 2023, I toured as Countess Lily in Anastasia , and I have such wonderful memories of performing for Canadian audiences.

What's your favorite musical of all time and why?

That's such a hard question! Wicked is definitely near the top of my list because I genuinely think it's a perfect musical. The score, the story, and the spectacle are all so beautifully crafted. I also have a huge soft spot for Golden Age musicals like My Fair Lady . Eliza is an absolute dream role of mine. I also adore The Light in the Piazza , which has some of the most stunning music ever written for the stage.

Are you a board game player? Was Clue part of your childhood?

Absolutely! I love board games, and I grew up playing Clue . I always chose Miss Scarlet because I thought she was so mysterious and glamorous. I also love the movie adaptation. It's hilarious, endlessly quotable, and truly iconic. Being part of this production feels like stepping inside a world I've loved since I was a kid.

What's your favorite song in the show?

Clue is actually not a musical! It's a 75-minute comedic play with no intermission. Six guests arrive at Boddy Manor under very mysterious circumstances, and before you know it, chaos erupts, murders occur, and everyone is trying to figure out whodunnit.

Once we step onstage, we don't leave until the end. It feels like jumping onto a moving train and hanging on for dear life, and the audience is right there with us for the ride. If you're looking for a night of non stop laughter, this is the show for you. Watching audiences laugh so hard they're wiping away tears is one of the most rewarding parts of doing this show.

What's a fun fact about you that many people don't know?

I'm also a voice teacher and have two degrees in Vocal Performance (from Oberlin Conservatory and NYU). I spent many years studying opera before transitioning into musical theatre and touring Broadway productions. Even while I'm on the road, I still teach virtually. I travel with a roll-up piano and teach lessons from hotel rooms all across North America! Music was my first love, and I definitely drew on my vocal training when creating Mrs. Peacock's very distinctive character voice.

Do you have any fun plans while you're in Calgary?

Banff has been on my bucket list for years, so I'm really hoping to make it out there while we're in Calgary. Everyone tells me it's breathtaking, and I can't wait to finally see those mountains in person!
