Miles Robinson Records His First Rap with Joey Bada$$ | Switching Stages
U.S. Men's National Team defender Miles Robinson joins Joey Bada$$ in the studio for his debut recording session, exploring flow, cadence, and confidence on the mic.
Joey Bada$$ brings U.S. Men’s National Team defender Miles Robinson into the studio for a first-time recording session, breaking down how he finds flow, cadence and confidence on the mic. Watch Miles Robinson step out of his comfort zone and into Joey’s creative process as they build a song idea from scratch.
Miles Robinson:
It is just a dream team. Me and Joey Bada$$, we do this every day. Psych, this is a one-time thing. Then we do this again and again.
Joey Bada$$:
Yo.
Miles Robinson:
Sir, what’s good, bro?
Joey Bada$$:
My G.
Miles Robinson:
Yo, how you been?
Joey Bada$$:
I’ve been good. How are you?
Miles Robinson:
I’m good.
Joey Bada$$:
Welcome to my world.
Miles Robinson:
I’m hyped to be here.
Joey Bada$$:
I know this is probably surreal for you, man.
Miles Robinson:
Oh, definitely. Just to be here in this studio, chilling with Joey Bada$$, it means a lot. For real. That’s what’s up, though.
Joey Bada$$:
So, have you ever been to a studio at all?
Miles Robinson:
No, this is my first time for sure.
Joey Bada$$:
You ever thought about making music?
Miles Robinson:
Not really, honestly. I’m more of the on-the-field guy, so this is a new experience for me.
Joey Bada$$:
Hell yeah. What direction do you want to go?
Miles Robinson:
Personally, I might just want to vibe out with it. Listen to a beat, see what I like, and then let the beat speak to me and go in that direction.
Joey Bada$$:
All right. I love what you said.
Miles Robinson:
So, do you have an album where you already had the written tracks?
Joey Bada$$:
Every album is a mixture of different creative processes.
Miles Robinson:
Got it.
Joey Bada$$:
I don’t have any singular album where it’s just like, “I only did this.” That’s kind of how the creative process is. You can’t really force it into a box. It’s hard to catch that lightning in the bottle. You might have gotten it this way on Monday, but Tuesday, it might be different. You might just be—who knows?
Keep watching for more!
