New Ballet has announced its 2026/2027 season and the Company's 10th anniversary. Performances include The San Jose Nutcracker and spring story ballet Sleeping Beauty in an expanded partnership with Symphony San Jose; as well as Fast Forward, a weekend of new contemporary ballet featuring the work of Ingrid Silva (Dance Theatre of Harlem) and Danielle Diniz (Jacob's Pillow, New York Dance Project).

"It's an honor to announce our new season along with the Company's 10th anniversary," said New Ballet Founder and Director Dalia Rawson. "This year is special as we celebrate the founding of New Ballet as well as the expansion of our collaboration with Symphony San Jose. During the upcoming season, New Ballet in partnership with Symphony San Jose plans to have live music for both The San Jose Nutcracker and our spring story ballet, Sleeping Beauty."

An annual tradition each October, New Ballet dancers perform a formal preview of the 2026/2027 season, introduced by Director Dalia Rawson in the Charlotte Wendel Education Center. Dancers will present excerpts from Sleeping Beauty and The San Jose Nutcracker as well as new works-in-progress being created for Fast Forward.

Celebrating New Ballet's 10 Year Anniversary at the annual Halloween Gala! Each year, this night at the Hammer Theater Center offers San Jose's best family-friendly Halloween Party, a gorgeous on-stage performance and the opportunity to support New Ballet.
The night begins with a dinner reception for Sponsors, then all ticket holders join festivities in the lobby, an elegant main-stage performance, and a post show reception and dance party. Kids (and grown-ups) are invited to come in costume and enjoy a night of ballet, Halloween treats, and fun surprises.
All proceeds from the evening support New Ballet's beloved annual production of The San Jose Nutcracker. This enchanting night of dance, celebration, and community is the perfect kickoff to the holiday season.
The Halloween Dance Party is New Ballet's most important fundraising event of the year in support of The San Jose Nutcracker, funding opportunities for local youth to perform on scholarship, invited viewing opportunities for local families from Title 1 Schools, and a shush-free preview for families affected with cognitive and sensory disabilities.

The 2026 production of The San Jose Nutcracker continues the collaboration between New Ballet and Symphony San Jose, bringing this exceptional orchestra to New Ballet's The San Jose Nutcracker. New Ballet's conductor Thomas Shoebotham leads the orchestra in bringing Tchaikovsky's immortal classic to life.
The San Jose Nutcracker is a classical holiday ballet that tells the well-loved story of Clara and the Nutcracker, while featuring historical references to the heritage that has made Santa Clara Valley the center of innovation it is today.
Also presented will be My Very First Nutcracker, a one-act performance for younger audiences, also accompanied by Symphony San Jose.

A program of new contemporary ballet and cutting-edge choreography, this weekend performance features world premieres by choreographers including: Ingrid Silva (Brazilian ballet dancer who currently performs with Dance Theatre of Harlem) and Danielle Diniz (New York-based dancer and choreographer who recently choreographed for Jacob's Pillow, Ailey BFA Program and New York Dance Project), among others.
May 22-23, 2027 at the California Theatre
New Ballet is thrilled to announce that our annual spring story ballet will now be presented in partnership with Symphony San Jose in the elegant California Theatre. For 2027, New Ballet has chosen Sleeping Beauty, the ultimate story about the triumph of good over evil. This production is performed to Tchaikovsky's lush score in an expanded collaboration, new this year, with Symphony San Jose. Conductor Thomas Shoebotham leads the orchestra. Also presented with My Very First Ballet: Sleeping Beauty, a special shortened performance for younger audiences.
Tickets for New Ballet's The San Jose Nutcracker go on sale beginning June 1.
Dalia Rawson is the Director, Founder, and primary choreographer of New Ballet. From 1991 to 2006, Dalia Rawson performed a wide variety of leading roles as a dancer with Ballet San Jose. She began teaching at BSJ School in 2000, was named Ballet Mistress in 2007, Principal in 2012, and Director in 2014.
In 2013 Rawson was awarded a Fellowship from the New York Choreographic Institute, an affiliate of New York City Ballet. An ABT Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 7 of the ABT National Training Curriculum, Rawson is also a member of the ABT Artistic Board of Examiners.
In 2016, Rawson's production of "The San Jose Nutcracker" premiered to sold out houses and critical acclaim. Rawson has created a repertory of ballets for New Ballet's professional company, including the story ballets "Cinderella," "Sleeping Beauty," "Swan Lake," "La Boutique Fantasque," as well as the contemporary sleeper hit "Less than Three. "
