OCTOBER PROJECT will present RIVER OF SONG, a community musical parade celebrating the 20th anniversary of Make Music New York, on June 21 in Riverside Park on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

The event follows the group's Virtual Choir of Joy project, which connected singers from around the world during the COVID-19 pandemic. For RIVER OF SONG, participants will gather in person for a parade and sing-along featuring music centered on the theme of joy.

The event is presented in collaboration with Aaron Copland School of Music professor and conductor James John and the Official Marching Band of NYC, led by Alex Jung. Singers, musicians, families, and community members of all ages are invited to participate in the procession.

OCTOBER PROJECT is led by composer Emil Adler, writer Julie Flanders, and vocalist Marina Belica. The ensemble is known for work that combines elements of pop, classical, choral, and a cappella music. In addition to releases on Sony/Epic and independent recordings, the group's choral project Book of Rounds: 21 Songs of Grace has been performed by singers around the world.

Participants can access downloadable sheet music, guide tracks, and registration information through the River of Song website. Individuals and choirs are welcome to take part in the event.

The event is free and open to the public and will take place rain or shine.

Participants will meet at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul & St. Andrew United Methodist Church, located at 263 West 86th Street. The parade will begin at 3:30 p.m. and travel through Riverside Park from 86th Street to Pier I at 71st Street.
