Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr
Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have released “Home to Us,” their first-ever duet, featured on McCartney’s new album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane.

Paul McCartney has joined forces with Ringo Starr for “Home to Us,” the pair’s first duet. The song appears on McCartney’s upcoming album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane .
Per Paul McCartney , there was a misunderstanding during the collaborative process between Ringo Starr and producer Andrew Watt. The situation reportedly left Ringo “a bit pissed,” but McCartney was able to turn Starr’s contribution into a song about growing up in Liverpool. Apparently, there were even more misunderstandings when McCartney sent the demo to Starr, who initially only recorded vocals for the chorus. McCartney assumed the gesture meant Starr didn’t like the song at all, but the two legends were able to clear the air, and Starr returned to the studio to lay down more drums.

It sounds like all the fuss was worth it.
Speaking at a special fan album playback event on May 5th at London’s Abbey Road Studios, McCartney offered additional details of how the song came together. “Ringo went round to the studio and drummed a bit,” McCartney shared. “I said to Andrew, we should make a track and send it to him. So this song is done totally with Ringo in mind. In writing the song I’m talking about where we came from. In common with a lot of people, you come from nothing and you build yourself up. Ringo was from the Dingle, and that was well hard. He said he used to get mugged coming home, because he worked. Even though it was crazy, it was home to us.”

“I made the song around that idea and sent it to Ringo,” McCartney continued. “He sent me back a version where he just added some lines to the chorus, so I thought, maybe he doesn’t like it. I rang him and he said he thought I only wanted him to sing one or two lines, and I said I’d love to hear him sing the whole thing. So we took my first line, Ringo’s second line, and then we had a duet. We’d never done that before. Then we wanted some backing vocals and I had the idea it would be nice to hear girls. Chrissie Hynde said she’d do it, and Sharleen Spiteri, they’re mates. So they did it.”

Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney previously had a heartwarming reunion in December 2024, when Starr joined McCartney onstage in London for a performance of “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” and “Helter Skelter.” The year before, the duo reunited for the final Beatles song, “Now and Then,” in addition to assisting Dolly Parton on her version of “Let It Be.”
The Boys of Dungeon Lane is set for release on May 29th, and pre-orders are ongoing. The album sees McCartney revisiting his childhood in Liverpool, as well as his early misadventures with George Harrison and John Lennon before their Beatles days.
