Peacock and Vin Diesel to Develop Fast and Furious TV Series
Vin Diesel announced a Fast & Furious TV show is in development at Peacock, stating the timing is now right for the franchise to expand to television.

Honestly, how has this not happened sooner? At NBC Universal’s upfronts presentation to advertisers on Monday, Vin Diesel revealed that a Fast and Furious TV show is in development at Peacock.
Per Variety , Diesel claimed that fans of the car-racing/heisting franchise “have wanted more. They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories. And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space that Fallon has mastered. And I had to wait till it was right… It became right when Donna Langley started to oversee it all, because that’s when I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family would be protected in the TV space… The news that I have here today is that Peacock is launching four shows from the Fast and Furious universe.”
Diesel may have overreached with his claim of four shows — according to multiple reports, only one show is officially in development, though other ideas from the Furious -verse may also be in consideration. (Similar to the way HBO always seems to have a few concepts for Game of Thrones spinoffs bubbling on the back burner.) There was no announcement as to whether the show will premiere before or after the final proposed F&F movie, 2028’s Fast Forever.

In this age of cross-platform storytelling, other movie franchises have made efforts to branch out into TV, such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars , The Terminator , The Lord of the Rings , and even The Karate Kid . Some of those efforts were more successful than others (shout out to anyone who remembers The Sarah Connor Chronicles ), but the range of possibilities is pretty wide. Peacock is keeping plot details for the one confirmed series under wraps for now.
