We at Stereogum are fucking with proun's forthcoming album Maybe Luck . The Austin band has us hooked with " Miracles " and " Coloring Pages ," the latter of which made our list of the best songs of the week . Now they're back with another fantastic tune called "Wall."
Bandleader Jamie Weed says it's a "song about trauma and trying to avoid it as well as the turmoil that cycle can cause." She expounds:
The chorus harps on the idea that attempting to come to terms with your trauma can bring you closer to a version of yourself that existed before those things happened, returning to an almost idealistic sense of self that experiencing trauma can destroy and the nearly impossible nature of radical acceptance and moving forward. We're meant to return to ourselves, but I have restraints coming.
As usual, it's a sonorous, evocative banger. Dive in below.
Maybe Luck is out 6/26 via Good English.
