Members Only is a new comedy drama written by Marc Pye and Gayle Telfer Stevens and it is directed by Maureen Carr.

Angie (Julie Duncanson) and Linda (Sanda McNeeley) have been friends for years, and their ultimate bonding activity is regular trips to the bingo. Linda’s daughter, Stacey (Taya Sian) is obsessed with what she deems self-improvement and can’t wait to get a TikTok paid partnership so that she can go to Turkey for a long list of surgical enhancements. Angie’s daughter Amy (Eimi Quinn) is aimless since she left further education but dreams of opening her own dog grooming business if only she could get the money needed to train for the job.

While the mums try and persuade their daughters to join them at the bingo, Amy and Stacey have no interest. That is, until they hear that the prize money is £40,000. The pair concoct a plan to sneak in as only one of them is a member. But is their friendship as strong as their mums, who always vow to share all wins 50/50….?

The four-strong cast do a brilliant job with the humour in the script, and we have some lovely improvisation from Eimi Quinn when her bingo balls start to get away from her. Taya Sian plays the wannabe influencer beautifully but is at her best when showing Stacey’s softer side.

There’s an interesting commentary on consumerism and fleeting internet fame, and there’s a really nice message about the meaning of real friendship and supporting each other. Members Only is a surprisingly touching and wildly entertaining whirlwind piece of theatre.
