DreamWrights’ Youth Ensemble is presenting the world premiere of Don’t Look Back: or The Lost Tale of Persephone on Saturday May 2nd, May 9th, May 16th, June 6th, and June 13th under the direction of Gregory DeCandida. Don’t Look Back was written by local playwright, Kate Brennan , who wrote The Wonder in Alice which premiered last year as an immersive theatre experience at DreamWrights. This time, Brennan is reimagining the tragic love story between Orpheus and Eurydice, which complements DreamWrights’ productions of Eurydice and Hadestown Teen.

The double cast for Don’t Look Back includes Amy Kyles / Sadie (DeDe) Thompson (Persephone), Maddie Cahill / Jaylene Sanchez (Hades), Sadie Jarmer / Lilyanna Martin (Hermes), Bennet Crone / Ava Keller (Orpheus), and Clara Ericson / Camryn McCormick (Eurydice). The Fates ensemble induces: Millie Crone, Sadie Kunkle, Audrey Anne Kveragas, Kellan Kveragas, Joanna Miller, Torrin Shrader, and Audrey Yabut.

The young talented cast was energetic and funny as they brought Brennen’s play to life on stage for the first time. Persephone, the goddess of spring, is married to Hades and missing her mother. She hopes that changing the outcome for Orpheus and Eurydice will bring a much needed change to her life as well. This 30 minute play was a unique twist on the classic myths and centered on themes of hope and using your talents. This show would be perfect for introducing children to theatre and Greek mythology. Tickets can be purchaed at DreamWrights's website.
