Though it looks like I'm a socialite, I honestly don't go to a lot of parties. However, the one that I DO NOT want to miss is thrown by my friends at Reynolds Performance Hall in Conway. I love going to their annual Season Reveal because it feels like Christmas morning for arts lovers. This year's event on May 12 was extra fun because the evening was themed around Clue, which instantly set the tone for a night of theatrical intrigue and excitement. After the grand entrance of the pianist (you had to be there to witness how cool that was), guests were invited to participate in a whodunit game and submit their guesses as to who the "killer" was. I didn't stay long enough to find out the answer, but I gleefully accused Amanda Horton herself—because, honestly, who better to mastermind a season so irresistible that it murders any hope of sticking to a budget?

And speaking of irresistible, the 2026–2027 season unveiled by Amanda Horton and the UCA Public Appearances team is so spectacular that I am already trying to figure out how to clear my calendar. Have you seen the list? I want to see it all!
During the announcement, Amanda asked which performances we were most excited to see. Now, I do not normally like to give away my favorites, but since you asked, I am more than happy to break it down for you.
The Broadway Series alone is enough to make any musical theatre lover squeal with delight: Clue, Mrs. Doubtfire, A Christmas Story THE MUSICAL, and Shucked. I have seen all four of these productions, and every single one of them is an absolute winner. This lineup offers the perfect blend of mystery, comedy, holiday nostalgia, and down-home musical fun. Quite honestly, you should see every one of them. If I had to choose just one favorite from the Broadway Series, my starry-heart eyes go straight to SHUCKED. Endorsed by Reba McEntire , this delightfully corny musical is one of the funniest shows I have seen in recent years. The story is clever, the songs are irresistibly catchy, and the jokes come so quickly that you may miss one because you are still laughing at the previous punchline. Beneath all of the outrageous corn puns is a genuinely touching story about community, friendship, and embracing change. From start to finish, it is upbeat, hilarious, and overflowing with joy. I absolutely love it.
The Night Out Series is just as exciting and wonderfully eclectic. This collection includes Celtic Angels Christmas, Richard Thomas in Mark Twain TONIGHT!, Cirque Kalabanté, and Jeff Corwin. Each event offers something completely different, making this series an adventurous and entertaining journey through music, storytelling, acrobatics, and wildlife exploration. I have not yet seen any of these performances, which makes choosing a favorite especially difficult, but if I had to pick the one I am most eager to experience, it would be Richard Thomas in Mark Twain TONIGHT! Thomas has been performing this acclaimed one-man show for years, and I have wanted to see it for the longest time. Best known to many as John-Boy Walton from The Waltons, Thomas is a gifted storyteller, and I can only imagine how brilliantly he will bring the wit and wisdom of Mark Twain to life.
The Pops Series is equally dazzling, opening in September with Ann Wilson of Heart, continuing with Mark Chesnutt in November, followed by The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra in February, and culminating with Frankie Moreno performing alongside the Conway Symphony Orchestra. Once again, this is an incredibly difficult choice because each artist offers something special, and I fully intend to attend all of them. But if I had to select one, I would choose Frankie Moreno . Named Las Vegas Entertainer of the Year, Moreno brings the glitz, energy, and charisma of a true headliner. As someone who also hails from Las Vegas, this performance feels especially meaningful to me. There is a story there that I am not ready to share just yet, but suffice it to say that this concert feels like a wonderfully personal full-circle moment.
The Windgate Collection offers yet another delightful mix for music lovers, featuring Cantus, Exile, and Twitty & Lynn. Cantus is known for its lush harmonies and rich vocal sound that is simply breathtaking. Exile and Twitty & Lynn both fall within the country genre, but each brings a distinctly different style and energy to the stage. So how does one choose? After much consideration, my pick is Twitty & Lynn because they are the spawn of country royalty. As the descendants of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn , they carry forward two of the most legendary names in country music history, and that alone makes this concert impossible for me to resist.
The An Evening With Series offers two fascinating and completely different experiences: Reed Timmer and a screening of Napoleon Dynamite followed by a talkback with cast members. This one is truly a toss-up. I do not watch a lot of television, and I have never seen NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, which means both events offer the thrill of discovering something entirely new.
The Main Stage EdUCAtion Series may be designed for students, but I will say it loud and proud: I get just as excited about these announcements as any child in the audience. This year’s educational offerings include VELVETEEN: A NEW MUSICAL, Curious George, Cat Kid Comic Club, Doktor Kaboom, The Pout-Pout Fish, and Cirque Kalabanté. To supplement the series, Reynolds will also present a benefit performance of THE POUT-POUT FISH as well as Fraggle Rock LIVE. I am definitely excited to see what explosions Doktor Kaboom has in store, but if I am being truly honest, I was singing the Fraggle Rock theme song for quite some time after that title was announced. “Dance your cares away, worries for another day…” and just like that, I was hooked.
The Add-On Series offers two exceptional bonus events: Straight No Chaser and Richard Thomas in SEPTEMBER 30, 1955. It is incredibly cool that Richard Thomas filmed portions of this movie on the University of Central Arkansas campus some forty or fifty years ago, making this screening especially meaningful for the Conway community. But if I am choosing between the two, my heart belongs to Straight No Chaser. I absolutely LOVE this group, and since they will be appearing at the very beginning of their Christmas tour, audiences can likely expect festive favorites such as “The 12 Days of Christmas” and “The Christmas Can-Can.” Their concerts are joyful, hilarious, and musically stunning. This one will almost certainly sell out, so get your tickets early!
That is the magic of Reynolds Performance Hall. Located on the campus of University of Central Arkansas, this beautiful venue has become one of Arkansas’s premier destinations for live entertainment. Whether you are a Broadway fanatic, a concert enthusiast, a film buff, or a parent introducing your children to the wonder of live performance, Reynolds consistently presents events that rival what you might find in much larger cities.
If you were fortunate enough to have season passes last year, you still have through June 12 to renew and secure your seats before they are released to the general public. Beginning June 15, season packages open to everyone. My advice? Do not wait. This is a stellar season, and I have a feeling many of these performances are going to sell quickly.
I have said it before, and I will happily say it again: Central Arkansas is incredibly fortunate to have Reynolds Performance Hall. Thanks to Amanda Horton and the outstanding UCA Public Appearances team, we do not need to travel to New York, Nashville, or Los Angeles to enjoy first-rate entertainment. They bring world-class performances directly to Conway with a genuine passion for enriching our community through the arts.
So gather your theatre-loving friends, renew your subscriptions, and prepare for a year filled with music, laughter, inspiration, and more starry-eyed moments than your heart can handle. For more information and tickets, visit Reynolds Performance Hall or call the box office at (501) 450-3265.
Coming up Monday, June 1, The Arkansas Country Music Awards will fill the performance hall with new music and special guests like Ricky Skaggs and Crystal Gayle. For more information and tickets, visit their website at arkansasmusic.org .
