Rick and Morty Spin-Off Series Featuring President Curtis Set for Summer Release

Adult Swim have announced that the Rick And Morty character President Curtis will be getting his own spin-off show, debuting this July.

Initially unnamed and based on former President Barack Obama , President Curtis first appeared in the 2015 episode Get Schwifty , and became a regular presence on the show, during which time it was released his name was Andre Curtis. He is voiced by veteran actor Keith David and is a mercurial presence in many episodes, being both an ally and enemy of leads Rick and Morty depending on the situation.

A spin-off show was announced last year, with parent company Warner Bros Discovery saying in a statement that the show “follows the Commander-in-Chief and his eccentric staff as they tackle the kind of crises that Rick Sanchez could never be bothered with – from interdimensional diplomacy to paranormal investigations and unexplained phenomena.”

The show was created by Dan Harmon and James Siciliano, and will feature the voice of Stephanie Beatriz ( Brooklyn Nine-Nine ) alongside David. Now, a new promo for the show has revealed the series will debut in July. The clip features Rick and Morty discussing the virtues of the character, and “pitching” the various adventures they would like to see him in. You can check it out above.

Rick And Morty is currently in its ninth season, having been renewed up to season 12 in 2024. UK viewers can watch the latest episodes on the HBO Max streaming service. Seasons 1-8 are currently available to watch on Netflix.

Last year, the show featured cameos from two Superman directors – James Gunn and Zack Snyder  – and they played comedy versions of themselves debating their different interpretations of The Man Of Steel. “Word of advice – he’s the Man of Steel, not the Man of Conversation,” Snyder tells Gunn. “Do more shots of him punching.”
