Sam Slater’s Intense Drone Metal Soundtrack ‘Saros’ Is Available to Stream

Saros ’ intense soundtrack from Grammy -winning composer Sam Slater is now available to stream – check it out below:

Saros is the spiritual successor to Housemarque’s cult 2021 hit Returnal . You play as Arjun Devraj as he investigates a lost off-world colony on the haunted planet of Carcosa and tries to reunite with his missing wife Nitya Chandran.

Taking elements from bullet-hell, third-person shooter and roguelite games, you’ll also have to defeat a variety of space monsters that get even more aggressive during one of the planet’s many eclipses.

The game’s soundtrack was created by Sam Slater, the Grammy-winning composer behind the music of Chernobyl , Joker and Battlefield 2042 , and is available to stream now.

As well as Slater’s 14 original tracks, the official Saros soundtrack features a pulsating electro track from DJ Dan Avery. Check out the full tracklist below:

“The aim was to create music that doesn’t simply sit on top of the game but emerges from it – from the visual tone of each level, from the physical materials on screen, and from Housemarque’s incredible sound design,” said Slater in a statement. “From the dying trees of the Blighted Marsh, the clanking machinery of the Ancient Depths, the physical and sonic materials become the starting point for the music. They can erupt into violent, high-energy action pieces, then subside back into the bespoke ambience and world-building of the level, so the score feels embedded in the environment rather than separate from it.”

“But even at its most maximal and violent, the score never gives up on emotion. It’s always trying to hold onto Arjun’s inner life: his fear, confusion, longing, and humanity as he navigates each new environment in search of Nitya, and the sense of connection she represents to him. There is melody and emotional language throughout, because the human element has to remain present even as the world around him succumbs to the corrupting force of the eclipse.”
