After sixteen years at the Edinburgh Fringe as one third of cult sketch favourites Sheeps, Jonno (Head Writer of SNL UK) is finally doing something truly unhinged: a full solo stand-up hour.

'Jonno' Johnson has appeared on stages at the Edinburgh Fringe for years. Big stages, late-night stages, sketch stages, Christmas stages, and almost all have been stages where there are three people on at once, and you can hide slightly if a bit doesn't land.
This year, he's doing something different. This year, it's just him.
Here Comes Mr Funny is Jonno's debut stand-up hour - a joyful, deliberately daft and gag-heavy show from one third of cult sketch favourites Sheeps, finally stepping out on his own after more than a decade (and a half) at the Fringe.
Rooted in the nonsensical, high-energy comedy that Sheeps audiences know well, the show is packed with silly ideas, odd tangents and jokes that appear fully formed for reasons even Jonno doesn't entirely understand. Along the way, he touches on the strangely relatable experience of doing something on your own for the first time in later life, the low-level panic of giving something a real go and the mildly unhinged feelings that arise when best friends and colleagues start appearing in sitcoms while you're still arguing with yourself about whether camels are funny. (They are.)
But no one can explain what the show's about more than Jonno himself, who says: "Hello son. So you're reading back over your old man's press release, are ya? This one was for my first (and, sadly, best) show 'Here Comes Mr Funny' way back in 2026! While I have your attention, if you find a way to travel back to the past, let's have a same-age arm wrestle. I'd love to see who comes out on top. Can't wait to defeat you. Can't wait to conceive you. Yours, Dad".
While this is Jonno's first full solo hour, he is far from new to the business. He is the Head Writer on the highly anticipated hit show Saturday Night Live UK, which, since airing on Sky One in March, has received huge buzz and rave reviews, and has already been renewed for a second series.
Here Comes Mr Funny is a fast, playful, joke-forward hour that prioritises laughs over lessons and silliness over sincerity. And if the odd earnest confessional moment appears, Jonno has the good grace not to linger.
Jonno's 2025 three-night work-in-progress run at Monkey Barrel was named one of The Guardian's "Golden comedy shows to see" at the Fringe, but this full debut marks his most personal, and most exposed step onto the stage so far, and boy, does he know it.
Whether that's brave or a terrible idea remains to be seen. Either way: here he comes.
Jonno: Here Comes Mr Funny performs 3rd to 30th August (not 17th) at Monkey Barrel Comedy's Monkey Barrel 2 at 19:10.
