Following the sell-out success of both Evita Too at the Southbank Centre 's Purcell Room and previous Edinburgh Fringe hit Sh!t Theatre: Or What's Left of Us, Sh!t Theatre is back with the greatest story never told. It's about the first ever female president of a country in the history of the world… whose name is… um… er…

The Edinburgh Fringe favourites (Drink Rum with Expats, DollyWould, Letters to Windsor House) travel across Argentina and Spain chasing the story of the record-breaking female president, endeavouring to write a musical to match Tim and Andrew's. Truth! Justice! Songs! Wizards! And, if you insist, naked roller-skating.
Writers and performers Rebecca Biscuit and Louise Mothersole said: "Isabel Peron went from nightclub dancer to the world's first female president. She ran Argentina, kept Evita's corpse hanging in her dining room, survived coups and literal wizards… then somehow got completely erased from history. The biggest surprise of all - she is still alive*. This story could only be a mega musical.
“We became obsessed with Ms Peron, travelled to Argentina to investigate, tried to chase her down in Madrid, failed miserably, and turned the whole disaster into the sequel to EVITA that no one knew needed to happen and that Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Tim Rice did not sign off on. It's about power, populism, legacy, and the strange ways history remembers women – or forgets them entirely.
*at time of writing. Please hang in there Isabel, our finale depends on it”
Director Ursula Martinez said: “When Becca and Louise's (Sh!t Theatre) director and collaborator Adam Brace suddenly died in 2023, Sh!t Theatre were in the shit. And they decided to make a show, but they didn't have a director because he had died, leaving them in the shit. They asked me to come on board and help them make their extraordinary award-winning show …Or What's Left Of Us. Amidst all the grief and the sadness, it felt like Sh!t Theatre and Ursula Martinez were a fit.”
“Evita TOO is my first directing project with Becca and Louise. As with all of their shows, there are several strands running alongside each other. One is the personal, who they are, their relationship with each other and their art. The other strand is a deep, documented delve into something that has captured their imagination. This time, the forgotten story of the first ever female president of a country in the history of the world, Isabel Perón.
