Sony’s State Of Play 2026: All the Big Announcements

Sony hosted a huge State Of Play presentation last night (June 2), confirming a number of massive games and giving fans a better look at already-announced projects – check out all the big announcements below:

After months of speculation , it’s been confirmed that a new God Of War spin-off is coming. Focusing on Kratos’ wife Laufey after her death in the 2018 reboot, the game will see you fighting through the afterlife of the gods.

“Faye has always been a formidable warrior in our story. She and Kratos can both hit hard and take hits, so one of our top priorities throughout the development has been handcrafting a uniquely fresh feel for Faye’s gameplay that will also meet the high expectations fans have for the series,” explains a press release. “Combining the movement and fluidity of the Greek era with the Norse era’s approach to world-building and close ties with characters — we’ve crafted an experience that has given our team incredible opportunities to take exciting creative swings, while staying true to the pillars of the God Of War series.”

A release date is still to be confirmed. God Of War composer Bear McCreary is set to return to score God Of War: Laufey . Deborah Ann Woll will play Faye while Jack Quaid is behind a cube named Phranque.

Marvel’s Wolverine is set to launch September 15 and fans were given a better look at the game’s combat and stealth mechanics via a new extended gameplay trailer .

The “brutal, violent and action-packed” game takes place in a world where the X-Men don’t exist and mutants are hunted down by Bolivar Trask, a “billionaire industrialist driven by a fanatical belief in human superiority.” Wolverine will be joined by Jean Grey and other familiar faces in his quest to protect mutants.

Rayman Legends Retold is a remake of the 2013 platformer which will launch October 1 for PlayStation 5 , Nintendo Switch 2 , Xbox Series X/S and PC – check out a trailer here .

Dave The Diver is getting a prequel with Bancho The Chef , a game about becoming a master of sushi. Open-world survival role-playing game Dune: Awakening is coming to PlayStation on September 22 alongside a brand new single-player mode while horror spin-off Silent Hill: Townfall will launch September 24 for PS5 and PC.

A sequel to 2019’s Control is finally set to launch later this year. Control Resonant will release September 24 for PlayStation users and takes place in a warped version of Manhattan that’s full of paranormal forces.

Instead of focusing on original protagonist Jesse, the sequel will follow her brother Dylan who was one of the main antagonists in Control . “She cleansed him, but he fell into a coma, trapped inside his own mind for years. Now he’s awake, trying to navigate a world that is unfamiliar to him. Jesse, the only real connection in his life, is missing,” explains a blog post. “Dylan carries the weight of his past. But he wants to help, and he wants to find his sister. He’s confronted by one crucial question: who is he today?”

A sequel to Supermassive Games’ 2015 hit Until Dawn is set to launch in 2027 while Capcom’s action horror Onimusha: Way Of The Sword will be released on September 25 – though a demo is available to play now.

It’s set to be a busy week for game announcements. Xbox are hosting their summer games showcase on Sunday (June 7) at 6pm BST while there are rumours Nintendo will share a Direct presentation next week.

In other news, Sophie Turner has revealed she’ll be playing Lara Croft in  Amazon Prime Video ’s  Tomb Raider  adaptation for years to come .
